vSphere tier 1 application performance – your mileage may vary

VMware users are expecting to see their applications scale virtual vs. native like the VMware reported tier 1 application benchmark results. To get close to or meet these expectations there are three things that are a must have in order to meet this expectation:

1. Follow best practices and tuning guidelines from ALL vendors (HW, SW, firmware, VMware, etc…)
2. Ensure an apples-to-apples comparison (HW, SW, firmware, VMware, etc….) are the same with the exception of the key difference you are looking for.
3. Remember your mileage may vary
