StorageCraft, an Arcserve company effective March 2021, began as a backup software provider with its ShadowProtect offering. In 2017, it acquired Exablox and gained a scale-out storage solution with an object-based file system. StorageCraft combined these two products into its OneBlox offering. In August 2018, StorageCraft relaunched OneBlox as OneXafe, adding new features and capabilities to create a converged primary and secondary data storage and management platform.
OneXafe is delivered as a StorageCraft-branded appliance (built with industry standard server hardware and commodity storage devices) and as ShadowXafe, a software-only appliance version. OneXafe Solo was introduced in April 2020 as an option for SMBs, remote and branch office environment, and managed service provider partners.
Using a software-defined storage architecture, OneXafe scales linearly, increasing capacity and performance as nodes are added. The OneXafe solution is built on a distributed, object-based file system running across multiple scale-out storage nodes, fully integrated with data protection services. The system uses continuous data protection to store an infinite number of immutable snapshots, allowing online recovery of previous versions of files.
StorageCraft backups are policy-driven based on customer-defined service level agreements (SLAs). They include all components of the physical and virtual machines – operating system, applications, settings and data – allowing for complete recovery of the protected environment. Physical and virtual systems can be recovered to the same system or a new one of either type.
