Rubrik Cloud Data Management is a solution for data protection and for enterprise data management. Rubrik is built on a distributed file system across multiple nodes in a scale-out configuration. The Rubrik software executes on standard servers and as a cloud instance. Additionally, it has achieved the AWS Outposts Ready designation.
While the initial focus has been as a scale-out data protection solution and is included in the Evaluator Group Data Protection Systems coverage, Rubrik is focused on enterprise data management including functions such as enterprise security improvement, governance, and visualization of data. As a result, it is also included in our Multi-Cloud Data Management coverage.
Data protection with Rubrik includes archive, remote disaster recovery, and copy data management. Rubrik offers a complete integrated system that includes the data protection software and scale-out storage for protected information. The software can also be deployed as a virtual machine which Rubrik identifies as a remote usage solution called Rubrik Edge.
As a data protection solution, Rubrik Cloud Data Management competes with vendors marketing integrated data protection appliances such as Cohesity DataPlatform and Commvault HyperScale X, among others.
