Nexenta NexentaStor is a scale-up, unified (block and file) storage solution that has an OpenZFS (Illumos) foundation. Storage controllers and storage enclosures are built with standard server chassis and storage devices, including HDDs, SSDs and PCIe flash. Controllers can be set up in single or Active/Active HA pairs with multi-path configurations using FC and iSCSI for storage connectivity and NFS, CIFS, SMB, iSCSI and FC protocols for host connectivity. NexentaStor systems can scale up to 1.5PB, per available reference architectures, but larger implementations are possible.

NexentaStor can be run as a VM on VMware or natively within the Illumos operating system. Storage enclosures can be configured in all-disk, hybrid or all-flash configurations, using flash and DRAM for caching and auto-tiering. The product provides RAID mirroring and striping with auto-rebuilds and synchronous mirroring capability.

NexentaStor supports local, 2-node replication with cloning and writable snapshots. Remote replication with stretched clusters is also supported with multiple remote sites. NexentaStor provides in- line deduplication and compression and thin provisioning with reclamation.

NexentaStor is currently sold with SanDisk InfiniFlash all-flash storage modules and SuperMicro servers to create a scale-up, all- flash array. Other OEM partners include Dell, Cisco, HGST and Fujitsu.
