The NetApp E5400 Storage System comes from the NetApp acquisition of the Engenio division of LSI.  The E5400 Storage System consists of dual controllers with up to 384 drives that have performance and features to meet the block storage requirements for open systems. The E5400 is both an OEM product for NetApp and also offered directly by NetApp.

Competitive multi-platform distributed storage hardware systems include alternatives such as EMC’s VNX series, Hitachi Data Systems’ (HDS) Hitachi Unified Storage (HUS) Series, and Hewlett Packard’s (HP) 3PAR 7000 series.

NetApp Engenio has continued to provide the high performance systems in their midrange systems line with additions and upgrades to the product line.   The E5400 provides advanced features that have evolved over time to provide high-value capabilities to customers.   As a system that combines high performance with advanced features, the E-Series meets a wide-range of demands in the market.  As a high performance system, the E5400 supports both Fibre Channel and InfiniBand connectivity.
