The NetApp E2700 Storage System is an entry level storage system that come from NetApp’s acquisition of the Engenio division of LSI.  The E2700 system is offered as an OEM product targeted for usage with servers in the mid-range and small enterprise environments.   The E2700 is capable of scaling to mid- range capacity and performance but is targeted at entry level pricing.

Competitive multi-platform distributed storage hardware systems include alternatives such as EMC’s VNX series, Hitachi Data System’s (HDS) Adaptable Modular Storage (AMS) Series, and Hewlett Packard’s (HP) MSA 2000 series.

The E-Series Storage System represents the continuation of the hardware evolution of the systems developed by NetApp and offered by a number of vendors.  There are a variety of packaging options using the modular controller. The E2700 provides advanced features that have evolved over time to provide high-value capabilities to customers.  As a system that combines performance with advanced features, the E-Series meets a wide-range of demands in the market for open systems.  The flexibility of SAN attachment for both Fibre Channel and iSCSI interfaces and SAS host connection allows the E-Series to be used in multiple environments that cover many different customer needs.

The E2700 is offered with two modes: regular and high performance modes.   The high performance mode allows for increased performance scaling of both IOPS and throughput.
