MaxDeploy is a pre-validated and pre-configured, Hyperconverged Infrastructure (HCI) appliance that uses a variety of standard x86 server platforms, Maxta’s reference architecture and MxSP software. MxSP is Maxta’s software-defined storage platform that runs as a VM on each node, creating a single storage pool with a global name space for the cluster to access via NFS.
Maxta currently has partnerships with Cisco, Dell, Intel, HPE, Lenovo, Quanta and Supermicro, to create HCI solutions all available with VMware, KVM and OpenStack. Maxta provides an online tool that automatically applies their reference architecture to customer requirements to generate specific server models and configurations. MaxDeploy is then delivered to customers as a pre-configured system via channel partners.
Maxta vendors offer single- or four-node, 1U and 2U chassis in three standard models, as well as build-to-order. OEM vendors offer a variety of CPU, memory and storage resource combinations, with up to 24 drives (typically) per server in hybrid and all-flash configurations. MxSP supports any storage that can be seen by its supporting hypervisor, including internal HDDs and SSDs, PCIe storage, direct-attached or network-attached storage.
Maxta scales by adding storage to individual nodes internally or externally, providing the ability to scale up node capacity as well as scale out the cluster. MaxDeploy clusters contain a minimum of three nodes, with no specific maximum and nodes can be of dissimilar configuration.
MxInsight provides historical reporting and enhanced policy management for all MaxDeploy solutions. MxCloudConnect, a remote call-home capability, delivers proactive maintenance and support notification. MxSP also integrates with VMware vCenter plugin. vSphere Escape Pod enables organizations to migrate virtual machines from VMware ESXi to Red Hat Virtualization and to run both hypervisors on Maxta MxSP software.
