Kyndryl (formerly IBM Global Technology Services) offers Storage as a Service (STaaS) as part of a broader portfolio of managed IT services offering that instantiate a private cloud environment within a customer’s data center. This Product brief focuses on STaaS but includes additional information on the other services.
Kyndryl Private Cloud services include:
Different billing metrics and terms and conditions will apply for each of the three services. (see below). Kyndryl Private Cloud Services includes technology from partners including Cisco, Dell, IBM, Lenovo, Microsoft, NetApp, Pure Storage, Red Hat and VMware. The services company has disclosed plans to add other partners.
The three services can be combined to yield a single tenant private cloud computing environment (servers, networking and storage) with management and support services layered on top. Services can be deployed on premises-only, within a colocation facility or a Kyndryl data center. Kyndryl also manages network connectivity across customer data centers and across public clouds. Private Cloud can also be hosted at a Kyndryl data center. Network connectivity can be included with STaaS sold with SAN connectivity.
Kyndryl Storage as a Service (STaaS) offers a dedicated storage environment with management and support services layered on top. It can be deployed as an on premises-only service or expanded to public cloud storage resources to yield a dedicated hybrid cloud storage environment. In addition, it can be tailored to a customer’s data environment via the use of multiple data tiers for block, file and object storage.
