The Evaluator Group periodically samples publicly available survey data on enterprise cloud usage. Our objective is to determine the current “state” of enterprise cloud computing by combining and analyzing this data that is publicly available from multiple sources.

Enterprise Cloud is one of the most if not the most surveyed topic in enterprise IT today simply because computing now impacts every enterprise IT group and nearly every IT vendor. It is reshaping the face of IT and its impact will be felt for years to come.

In this report, we highlight significant trend lines that will shape cloud computing and impact enterprise IT in 2017. In summary, more money will be spent by enterprises this year on public cloud offerings. Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and Software as a Service (SaaS) will likely be the most popular public cloud platforms. At the same time, private clouds will continue to morph to hybrid clouds while multi- cloud environments (multiple public cloud deployments) become the norm for most enterprises.
