The HP 3PAR StoreServ 7000 systems are mid-range block storage products based on HP’s 3PAR technology acquired in 2010.  The 7200 and 7400 storage systems support block storage over FC, iSCSI, and FCoE.

The packaging of the HP 3PAR StoreServ 7000 has been streamlined from the previous F-class midrange 3PAR system.  HP 3PAR model 7200 supports two controllers, and the 3PAR model 7400 supports two or four controllers.  The 7200 controllers are housed in a 2U enclosure that includes 24, SFF disk drives.  The 7400 supports a total of four controllers in two, 2U enclosures each with up to 24 SFF disks.  Additional 2U or 4U expansion trays are available that support 2.5” and 3.5” disks respectively.

The latest version of the 3PAR InForm OS software supports all current generation 3PAR systems, including the new 7000 models. (The 3PAR Inform OS is described in the product analysis section of the Evaluator Series Research).  Released with the 3PAR 7000 systems are new software bundles designed specifically for the model 7000 products.  Nearly all 3PAR software suites are supported on the 7000 systems; however, specific bundles that have been price reduced are available specifically for the 7200 and 7400 systems.
