This product has been replaced by the 20000 series, covered in the HPE 3PAR StoreServ.
The HPE 3PAR StoreServ 10000 (V-Class) is a high end modular, virtualized storage system. The HPE 3PAR F-Class is a mid-tier offering with the same underlying architecture and embedded system software. All models run HPE 3PAR’s InForm operating system and additional add-on software modules. HPE 3PAR’s design utilizes a hybrid architecture which provides many of the advantages of both monolithic and modular architectures by using standard components grouped into multi-node clusters. Each cluster of at least two controllers contains essentially three elements, as with modular systems, host connectivity, cache and processing and back-end disk connectivity. The clustered controller design allows the system to scale from two controller nodes up to an 8 controller configuration non-disruptively. Together, a pair of controller nodes comprises four EIA rack units in a standard 19-inch cabinet. Each node pair provides full redundant failover and data access capability, with each node being hot-pluggable for serviceability.
Each controller node in the storage system runs its own version of HPE 3PAR’s proprietary InForm operating system which communicates with the others for redundancy and data movement. The high bandwidth backplane enables all of the controllers (up to eight) to function as a single storage subsystem providing linear performance scaling. The HPE 3PAR StoreServ 10000 uses a 4th generation ASIC for storage processing including thin provisioning.
