Dell RecoverPoint software can run on a pre-integrated hardware-based appliance or as a virtual appliance. It can protect (e.g. provide data replication between) Dell and a limited number of third-party storage systems.
Dell Recover Point for Virtual Machines works in VMware ESXi hypervisor environments to provide data protection for virtual machine data.
The data protection features include continuous data protection, continuous remote replication and combined local and remote replication. These features are supported across heterogeneous hosts and storage systems. RecoverPoint is available in three configurations:
- RecoverPoint/SE is the entry-level version of RecoverPoint that provides data protection for a single storage array per site.
- RecoverPoint/EX configuration supports data protection for multiple arrays at one site
- RecoverPoint/CL is the full featured product that includes support for multiple arrays, SAN based write splitting, along with support for heterogeneous hosts and selected third party storage systems
The virtual machine version of RecoverPoint runs as virtual machines with write splitters installed in the VMware hypervisor to allow the RecoverPoint software to replicate a copy write data to remote storage systems.
