An Economic Analysis of NetApp’s FabricPool

We have seen rapid advancement in the use of cloud computing by enterprises over the last few years. Public clouds are easy to use and are quickly accessible. From a storage perspective, they offer scalable block, file, and object storage resources that are available immediately. Enterprise IT administrators are now integrating cloud storage repositories with their on-site private cloud storage systems resulting in a foundational data layer for hybrid clouds.

Recent survey data supporting an Evaluator Group study of hybrid cloud use within the enterprise found that 60% of large enterprise IT respondents see hybrid cloud as their long-term future and that they plan to increase their hybrid cloud workloads in 2017. In the same survey, we also saw that enterprise IT is now leveraging hybrid cloud storage for disaster recovery/business continuance and automated data tiring use cases. We asked enterprise IT administrators and executive to identify their hybrid cloud storage use cases. More than half indicated that these were their top two uses cases.
