Dell EMC PowerVault NX Series – Product Brief

The Dell PowerVault NX is a family of NAS systems based on Microsoft Windows Storage Server (WSS).  The PowerVault NX systems are a family of both appliances and gateways to provide both file and block access to a Network Attached Storage system.  The Microsoft WSS that is the underlying software is described in more detail in the product analysis on the Evaluator Series Research.

Current family offerings for Dell PowerVault NX are:

  • NX400 – entry level NAS appliance.
  • NX3200 – mid-level NAS appliance.
  • NX3300 – gateway system with clustering capability for high availability.

The PowerVault systems use Dell 1U and 2U servers as the base system with WSS software installed.
