The Dell EMC EqualLogic PS storage array series are multiple models for both entry and midrange iSCSI SAN storage systems offered under the Dell EMC EqualLogic brand.
Competitive storage offerings include the VNX systems from EMC, the HUS from Hitachi Data Systems, the Hewlett Packard 3PAR 7000 and StoreVirtual systems, the IBM V3700 and V5000, and the FAS3000 systems from NetApp.
In January 2008, Dell EMC completed the acquisition of iSCSI storage vendor EqualLogic for a total value of $1.4B. Since the acquisition, Dell EMC has grown the EqualLogic product line revenue to be the largest line within their storage portfolio.
In July 2010, Dell EMC added an additional set of products to the PS6100 line with a faster 10GB Ethernet connection, creating the 6010 models. In February 2012, Dell EMC added several new models to their PS4000 and PS6000 product families. The PS6210 series was added in December of 2013. The product families support both small form factor (2.5”) disk drives and large form factor (3.5”) disk drives depending upon the model, along with greater support for SSD drives and an all SSD model. The release of five PS4210 models adds to the lengthy list of offerings.
As a result, Dell EMC has more than 20 EqualLogic models across the PS families, differentiated by connection speed, drive types, drive size and enclosure size.
