Dell EMC SourceOne for File Systems – Product Brief

Dell EMC SourceOne for File Systems is part of a suite of unstructured data archiving products called the Dell EMC SourceOne Data Protection Suite for Archive, which is part of the Dell EMC Data Protection Suite (DPS) and includes DPS for Backup, DPS for Applications, and DPS for VMware. See the graphic below.

The Archiving suite includes support for Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft SharePoint, and IBM Domino as well as file systems. The optional SourceOne Email Supervisor and SourceOne Discovery Manager are available to support compliance requirements.

Executing on a Windows server, SourceOne utilizes a SQL database for metadata with archived information.

SourceOne Archiving is available for both on-premises and in the cloud. Archiving support includes email, messaging systems, file servers, collaboration systems, and social media content.

Criteria for controlling the archive selection is established by the administrator and the archive process executes on the selected time schedule. Indexing of data is done during the archive and a full search is supported with the add-in search software. Target systems are file storage, typically NAS. Complementary Dell EMC products include Atmos, Centera, Cloud Tiering Appliance software, Data Domain, and Elastic Cloud Storage (ECS).
