Dell EMC’s Ready Stack Converged Infrastructure (CI) consists of Dell servers, Dell networking components and Dell EMC storage systems, sold as an integrated, rack-level solution. Ready Stack is designed to provide a complete infrastructure stack that incorporates specific Dell EMC hardware and software components.
Ready Stack is a turnkey solution that replaces the Cisco servers and switches in Dell EMC’s original CI solution, VxBlock. It is sold by Dell EMC, which handles all Level 1 and Level 2 support. Instead of an “engineered system”, that required some pre-sales configuration and integration work by Dell EMC or their partners, Ready Stack is designed to be assembled by users or partners, leveraging Dell EMC validated designs, with deployment and architecture guides.
Ready Stack Validated Designs
Dell EMC has created a number of Design and Deployment Guides, including the following, each of which includes integrated data protection:
Dell EMC Storage, Servers, Networking
Ready Stack can be configured with all of Dell EMC storage arrays. These include: the PowerMax 2000 and 8000 block and file storage in all-flash and hybrid configurations; the XtremIO X2S and X2R all-flash, block storage systems; the Unity all-flash unified (block and file) arrays; the SC Series all-flash and hybrid block storage arrays; the Isilon all-flash, hybrid or archival NAS systems.
Dell EMC PowerEdge rack servers are supported in 1-, 2- and 4-socket configurations. Dell EMC PowerEdge Modular Infrastructure (MX, FX, VRTX) and PowerEdge Blade Servers are also supported in Ready Stack certified designs. Dell EMC S- or Z-series switches are recommended for Layer 2 and Layer 3 Ethernet switching with Layer 2 multipathing with Virtual Link Trunking technology. For storage, networking, Ready Stack supports Dell EMC Connectrix B-Series and MDS Series fibre channel switches.
