CA Storage Resource Manager – Product Brief

Last updated October 5th, 2018 for general updates. Concise 4-page overview of CA Storage Resource Manager.

CA Storage Resource Manager is a unique solution that manages both mainframe and open system storage environments. It is a single solution rather than a suite of products provided by other vendors. CA SRM is used to view and manage all network resources from host through storage system offering centralized reporting, analysis, monitoring with thresholds and alerting, data classification, automation and remote task execution.  Both physical and virtual environments with VMware and Hyper-V can be managed along with a range of devices that support the SMI-S standard.

Two forms of data collection are used to populate information for reporting and analysis into the CA SRM database.  Agentless data collection is used for Windows servers using the Windows Management Interface (WMI).  Local data collection uses file transfer agents to retrieve data from the managed devices to the application server database.

CA Storage Resource Manager is a single product with a set of features for managing the storage environment using information collected and stored in the CA SRM database.  The following description of the features is intended to provide a better understanding of the capabilities.
