Composable Infrastructure is a comprehensive, rack-scale compute architecture that uses software-defined networking techniques to connect independent servers, storage and switch chassis or modules by PCIe or Ethernet. Unlike HCI and Converged Infrastructure, it maps pooled, physical resources to create (or “compose”) bare-metal compute instances as needed, under software control. To this end, the composable architecture is designed with API-based configuration and management. Composable Infrastructure solutions also support VMs and containers.
