Composable Infrastructure is a comprehensive, rack-scale compute architecture that uses software-defined networking techniques to connect independent servers, storage and switch chassis or modules by PCIe or Ethernet. Unlike HCI and Converged Infrastructure, it maps pooled, physical resources to create (or “compose”) bare-metal compute instances as needed, under software control. To this end, the composable architecture is designed with API-based configuration and management. Composable Infrastructure solutions also support VMs and containers.
“Composable Infrastructure is a new breed of offerings, targeted at environments that require high levels of performance and / or capacity, and may need to dynamically assign resources to accommodate change. As such, we expect these systems to be adopted liberally into Artificial Intelligence architectures and private cloud environments,” said Camberley Bates, Managing Director, Evaluator Group.
To help those evaluating Composable Infrastructures, Evaluator Group has today announced the expansion of research to cover multiple Composable Infrastructure solutions. The initial release of research includes an Evaluation Guide and concise Product Briefs providing highlights, overview, usage and Evaluator Group opinion. The Composable Infrastructure solutions currently covered in this new research are:
The Composable Infrastructure Evaluation Guide is free of charge while the Product Briefs are available via premium subscriptions beginning at $2,500 for IT professionals. Click here to access the free Evaluation Guide and contact us to learn more about premium subscriptions.
