Moving from physical to virtual will force permanent changes in the ways IT infrastructure is managed. We foresee a more converged operational management model evolving with server, networking, and storage administrative groups coalescing and possibly disappearing over time within some organizations, replaced by an IT infrastructure management group. Network convergence based on an implementation of FCoE will become more compatible with this operational management model as FCoE adoption becomes more widespread and its implementation models better understood. QLogic has established an early lead in the placement of FCoE within the virtualized server space.
