VDI performance and acceptability to the desktop user can be significantly affected by the way the virtual desktop image data is transferred from storage to the physical server hosting the virtual desktops. There are a number of storage systems or solutions whose characteristics are well-suited to help address the issues for deploying VDI and scaling to a large number of virtualized desktops.  This document reviews storage systems for VDI environments in light of the requirements of this unique application load. Updates as of March 2011 include discussion on VAAI.
