BlueArc has been a pioneer in bringing a custom-designed hardware platform NAS product into general usage for Information Technology.  In addition to the Mercury system which is targeted at the mid-tier market with high performance capabilities, BlueArc also markets into high performance computing environments and in the digital video space.  The unique implementation coupled with the additional features has allowed BlueArc to successfully address multiple usages in differing market segments with a consistent design and feature set between the Mercury and Titan lines.
